Carla Engler is a well-respected magazine creative director, fashion editor, and stylist who has worked at a broad range of publications from high concept to mass market. Carla began her career at Harper’s Bazaar, where she was one of the main sittings editors for ten years, styling and directing hundreds of covers, fashion, beauty and celebrity shoots.
Carla has freelanced as a fashion editor and stylist for The New York Times, Elle, Allure, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar and many others. She has also held Creative Director positions at Self, Redbook and LHJ. Carla’s commercial clients have included Estee Lauder, Maybelline, Cover Girl, Elizabeth Arden, Evian, Phillips Electronics, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, AT&T, American Express, Visa, Converse and many more.
Carla has worked with many celebrities as a fashion editor and stylist, including Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields, Diane Sawyer, Heidi Klum and Sheryl Crow. She has also styled Al Gore and Laura Bush and has worked with numerous supermodels, both current and past, ranging from Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington to Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, and now, Gemma Ward, Chanel Iman, Angela Lindvall, Julia Stegner and others.
Carla lives in New York with her husband, Edward Deitch, a media executive, and their two boys, Will, and Wylie.
