From the young age of 12, Julie Kandalec knew her future was in nails. “When I grow up, I want to be a manicurist” she wrote in English class. Perfecting her art at an Ohio salon for over a decade, Julie experienced and honed every subject: natural nails, enhancements, and nail art. Hailing from a family of educators, Julie is also a natural teacher and strongly believes in the power of education and becoming a well-rounded artist.
With 17 years in the nail industry, Julie believes nail care is far beyond just polish. Always the artist, she is also trained in painting, drawing, colour, and dance. Known for her gentle touch and precise attention to detail, Julie’s specialities vary from clean & natural to elaborate, custom designed nails. Since making the move to New York City, her celebrity clients include Sally Field, Rose Byrne, and Jill Scott. Julie’s work can now be seen in Allure, Cosmopolitan, Essence, Shape, multiple international issues of Vogue, and on TLC’s “What Not to Wear”.
When Julie isn’t beautifying nails, she loves to explore Manhattan, travel the globe, and eat cupcakes. Lots of cupcakes.
