Vicky Steckel

Born in the Dominican Republican, Vicky and her family moved to New York City in the summer of 1980. As a young woman, Vicky immediately realized the potential New York City had to foster her artistic passions and talent for makeup.  She landed her first job as a freelance national makeup artist for Prescriptives.  The job enabled her to travel around the US teaching customers about and how to apply the Prescriptives’ products.

The turning point came in Vicky’s career in Miami in 1997 when she met the highly influencial makeup artist Pat McGrath.  McGrath was impressed with Vicky’s work and invited her back to New York City to become her first assistant.  After working with McGrath for a year, Vicky parted to pursue her own independent reputation as a makeup artist.

Known for her attention to luminous skin and natural makeup, Vicky Steckel has become a favorite with clients like Sports Illustrated, Intimissimi, and Allure Magazine. Vicky’s lighthearted attitude and inspiring makeup techniques have made her a favorite on set with many of the world’s most talented photographers and models.
