Carlo Longo
Carlo Longo
Carlo Longo was born in Melbourne, Australia to Italian parents, but raised on the coast of Northern Italy. Carlo was always inspired by the world of beauty and color. Driven to master his creativity and broaden his horizons he utilized his language ability (Carlo is fluent in Italian, French and English), by turning to his Uncle, seasoned celebrity makeup artist, Vincent Longo. With Vincent’s advice and training, Carlo boldly left home at age 17 with a move to London to manage Vincent Longo’s cosmetics at Selfridges. Eager to take his craft to the next level, after three years, Carlo moved to Sydney to train new associates for Vincent Longo Cosmetics the David Jones department store.
Carlo also became an independent freelancer and for the 2 years spent in Australia his diary was filled with bookings from Australian Fashion week and top Australian fashion houses including Peter Morrisey & Michiko Koshino.
At 23 years of age he ventured out from the family business and embarked on his freelance career in Milan and began doing makeup for Italian fashion week and fashion and beauty spreads in Glamour Italia, Elle Italia, Harpers Bazaar Italia, and Vogue Italia.
Wanting to rejoin Longo Cosmetics and the desire to continue taking his career to the next level, Carlo made his next move to New York City, where he has lived for the past 8 years. He became assistant creative director of Vincent Longo Cosmetics and joined the Bryan Bantry Agency. Soon after his move Carlo began keying countless shows for New York Fashion Week including Erin Fetherston, Jenni Kayne, Nautica, Reem Acra and Douglas Hannant.
Carlo’s professional creativity and attention to detail enables him to quickly develop a strong rapport with the clients. Celebrities such as Sigourney Weaver, Famke Janssen, Minka Kelly, Amy Ryan and Erika Christensen count on him to make sure they are red carpet ready. His editorial work has been seen in Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamour, Lucky and Real Simple and his commercial clients include Brooks Brothers, Carmen Marc Valvo, Gryphon and ADAM. Highlights of Carlo’s career have been working with top photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, Russell James, Brigitte Lacombe, Greg Kadel and James Macari.
